Immune-Boosting Foods

Nutrition can help keep your immune system strong! Some key nutrients for a healthy immune system include protein, vitamins such as Vitamin A, C, & E, and minerals such as Zinc. The good news is you can get these nutrients from a variety of sources.

  • Eat a variety of protein foods such as lean meat, poultry, seafood, eggs, beans, soy, nuts, or seeds. Most of these are also a good source of Zinc.
  • Vitamins A and C are available in many different fruits and vegetables. Remember all forms count-fresh, frozen or canned!
  • Vitamin E can be found in vegetable oils, nuts, seeds, and green leafy vegetables.
  • Staying hydrated is also important for a healthy immune system—drink your water!

Of course, good nutrition does not take the place of practicing proper hygiene, but can be one more tool to help keep you healthy.
